Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Assist in the safety and welfare of patients, staff and visitors. Provides campus security.

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Make hourly rounds to both floors of the hospital, checking locks and doors, leaks, blown light bulbs, and machinery making unusual noises. The boiler room is checked on each round.
2. Escort employees to the parking lots for safety when requested
3. Provide courier service for the hospital when needed
4. Respond to all calls for assistance
5. Reports directly to the lead security guard during the week, and may be called upon to assist in other department related activities
6. Reports directly to the night supervisor for any emergencies or unusual orders during evenings and weekends
7. Participates in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assists in maintaining compliance with DOH accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including code of conduct.

Hours: Per Diem, Various Shifts. Weekends required.

Salary: $19.49 - $22.24 per hour based on experience, along with a $2.00 per hour per diem incentive.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE

• 1 year of field experience is preferred
• Custom service experience is preferred

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 8 hour Pre-Licensing course
• 16 hours "On the Job Training" course
• 8 hours "Annual Training" course

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• New York State Security Guard License
