Position Summary

The Security Guard maintains a safe and secure environment by conducting patrols, enforcing site rules, and responding to incidents while providing professional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular foot patrols and monitor premises to maintain safety and security
• Enforce property rules, regulations, and access control procedures
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, and medical situations (First Aid/CPR/AED)
• Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activity
• De-escalate conflicts and manage trespassers or unauthorized individuals safely
• Investigate incidents and document all findings in clear, accurate reports
• Maintain logs and incident reports in accordance with site procedures
• Provide professional customer service using tact and diplomacy
• Collaborate with emergency services and support daily operations as required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Alberta Security Licence
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification
• Minimum 1 year of security experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8–12 hours)
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-traffic environments (indoors and outdoors)
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
• Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• High attention to detail and situational awareness
• Proactive approach with ability to follow direction and retain information

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in retail security or loss prevention
• Experience in high-volume or public-facing environments
• Training in de-escalation or crisis intervention
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-stress situations
• Strong emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills
