As a Federal Security Guard, you’ll take on a dynamic role supporting security operations across a variety of environments and situations throughout Vancouver Island. No two deployments are necessarily the same — you may be called upon to secure designated areas, control access, monitor activity, maintain detailed logs and help protect the integrity of an active scene or emergency operation.

You’ll collaborate with operational personnel, respond to changing environments and play an important role in maintaining safe and secure areas during critical events. The position may involve day, evening, overnight, weekend and emergency deployments, making flexibility and reliability essential.

Responsibilities for Federal Security Guard

• Patrol and monitor designated areas to identify and respond to potential security concerns
• Secure controlled areas and manage access to designated scenes and restricted locations
• Verify identification and maintain accurate logs of individuals entering and exiting secured areas
• Monitor the security of active scenes and emergent events while maintaining awareness of changing conditions
• Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies and evolving security situations
• Maintain detailed and accurate incident reports, activity logs and shift notes, including documentation that may support investigative or court proceedings
• Work collaboratively with law enforcement and operational personnel during active incidents and security deployments
• Follow established procedures and directions to help preserve the integrity and security of designated areas
• Maintain a professional presence while exercising sound judgment, observation skills and discretion in sensitive environments
• Remain flexible and prepared to support day, evening, overnight, weekend and emergency deployments as operational needs arise

Qualifications for Federal Security Guard

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
• Must hold a valid BC Security Worker Licence
• Must have a minimum of 12 months of recent security experience, gained within the past five years
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to complete detailed reports and documentation
• Comfortable working day, evening, overnight, weekend and on-call shifts
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Vancouver Island as operational requirements arise
• Ability to remain alert and attentive while standing and walking for extended periods
• Strong observation, judgment and decision-making skills
• Professional, reliable and able to remain composed in changing or high-pressure environments
• First Aid certification is considered an asset
• Previous experience in law enforcement, corrections, military, peace officer, or other high-security environments is considered an asset
