In this role, you will be focused on providing professional front-line security in a commercial property while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for tenants, visitors, and contractors. Your responsibilities include managing access control systems, verifying authorized entry, operating visitor management processes, responding to tenant inquiries and construction-related concerns, and maintaining security throughout ongoing renovations. The position requires balancing safety, customer service, and efficient building operations in a complex multi-tenant commercial setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Respond to tenant, visitor, and contractor inquiries professionally and calmly, as security staff are often the first point of contact (front desk / concierge standard).
• Understand and operate access control systems, including key card / fob systems, access permissions (tenant vs visitor vs contractor levels), door alarms, overrides, and lockdown procedures.
• Administer visitor management systems, including sign-in logs, ID verification, and pass issuance.
• Ensure only authorized individuals can access restricted areas.
• Work effectively within a commercial environment that involves multiple tenants with different access rules, high visitor turnover, sensitive corporate environments, and shared infrastructure (parking, elevators, loading docks), while supporting privacy and business continuity expectations.
• Balance safety, tenant experience, and operational flow in a dynamic, multi-tenant setting.
• Effectively manage all contractor and construction-related activity on site, ensuring strict access control, safety compliance, and site protection.
• Verify all contractors against approved lists and ensure valid ID, company confirmation, and work authorization before granting entry.
• Monitor and restrict access to designated construction zones only, preventing entry into tenant, mechanical, or restricted areas.
• Respond to tenant complaints related to construction noise, disruptions, or after-hours work by attending the area, assessing the situation, and escalating or documenting as required.
Required Qualifications
• Must be able to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude in all aspects of the role
• Valid British Columbia Security License
• Valid OFA 1 certificate
• Prior experience working in a commercial officer tower is required
• Must have at least 2 years of prior Security experience
• Prior concierge experience is highly desirable
• Proven leadership experience is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and perform effectively in high-pressure situations
• Strong English communication skills (verbal + written reports).
• Comfortable working independently while balancing safety, tenant experience, and operational flow
Certification Requirements (All)
British Columbia Security License
• Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed
Qualifications & Skills:
• Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot for extended periods (8-12 hours)
• Valid BC Security license
• Valid OFA 1 certificate
• Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism
• Must have at least 1 year of prior Security experience
• Experience in Loss Prevention / Retail Security is considered an asset
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal
• Must be able to take a Proactive approach to all onsite situations
• Must be capable of retaining all relevant information provided by management and designated staff
• Able to take constructive feedback where appropriate
• Must be unafraid to attend highly stressful emergency situations
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.
• Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress
• Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area
• Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team
