Compensation: £24,500 - £28,000 Depending on Experience + Benefits

The role

As a Security Guard, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll provide a professional security service and act as a key gateway to restricted areas across Devonport. You'll play an essential role in maintaining site security, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Defence security requirements. Every day will bring variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a highly regulated and mission-critical environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Control access to secure facilities and verifying personnel, visitors and contractors.
  • Conduct scheduled and random patrols across designated areas on foot and by vehicle.
  • Report suspicious activity and security incidents in accordance with established procedures.
  • Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, fire alarms and security-related events.
  • Collaborate with security colleagues, site personnel and Ministry of Defence stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure environment.

This role is based at Devonport and operates on a 35-hour average working week covering a rotating shift pattern.

Essential experience of the Security Guard

  • Demonstrable experience delivering excellent customer service while maintaining security standards.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and use initiative in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work flexible shift patterns, including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays

Qualifications for the Security Guard

Essential

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
