Job Title: Security Guard 2 (SG2)

Salary: $50,412- $67,704 Annually (The posted salary does not include an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium)

We're looking for a Security Guard 2 (SG2) to join our team at the Vancouver Belonging House Placement Exception Facility. DCYF Placement Exception Facilities provide short-term housing for foster youth ages 13–18 who have significant behavioral or mental health needs, require intensive supervision, and do not currently have an appropriate placement. The Opportunity:

Security staff are responsible for maintaining the overall safety and security of the facility, providing appropriate supervision, and intervening when necessary to support youth and staff safety. Security staff does not count toward the required staffing ratio but plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment. Staff may also be responsible for implementing facility fire safety protocols.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Ensure the safety and security of youth and staff.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds by foot and/or vehicle.
  • Control access to buildings.
  • Enforce safety and security policies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and security-related issues.
  • Prepare written reports for management regarding security breaches, disturbances, or other notable occurrences.
  • Ensure the safety of staff while working with youth with complex mental health, developmental, and behavioral needs.

What we're looking for (Required Qualifications):

One year of experience as a Security Guard 1.

OR

Two years of experience in areas of work such as security guard, correctional officer, store investigations, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work. A certificate of completion in a state-certified basic law enforcement training program or completion of a police or reserve police academy or military training program will substitute for 1 of the required 2 years of experience.

OR

Equivalent education and experience totaling two years in areas of work such as: security guard, correctional officer, store investigations, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work.

AND

  1. The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  2. The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Note: The incumbent must have or successfully obtain a Washington State Food Handler card within 14 days of employment.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Previously demonstrated work with youth.
  • Previously demonstrated excellent de-escalation skills
