GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Wyoming State Penitentiary is looking for a self-motivated individual to perform security-related tasks to ensure a safe and secure environment. A Construction & Security Escort works a variety of assignments requiring no direct inmate supervision. This position is responsible for operating secure checkpoints, entryways or control centers as well as escorting vendors, contractors, and visitors within and throughout the prison grounds and ensuring all WDOC policies and procedures are followed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Maintain institutional safety standards by enforcing rules and regulations and performing security-related tasks.
  • Escort outside contractors, vendors, and visitors throughout prison grounds.
  • Assist with running a control center to include gates, doors, and camera surveillance.
  • Assist with processing staff through and maintaining the security of entryways.
  • Perform security and safety checks, surveillance, inventories, and searches.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Maintains a variety of records and logs and prepares staff reports as necessary.
  • Required to check out keys for access to different areas of the facility.
  • Conduct tool inventories.

Examples of duties


PREFERENCES:

Preferences will be given to those with 1-2 years of experience in a security role.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Knowledge of security measures, techniques, and precautions necessary to maintain a safe and secure institution.
  • Ability to enforce rules professionally.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
High School Diploma


Experience:

0-2 years of progressive work experience as a Security Guard with acquired knowledge at the level of a Shuttle Driver
OR
Education & Experience Substitution
1-3 years of progressive work experience as a Security Guard with acquired knowledge at the level of a Shuttle Driver
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
An agency may require a CDL license.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods
  • May work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • May be required to sit, stoop, bend, kneel, or climb occasionally
  • May be required to walk/stand on hard and/or uneven surfaces
