
The Security Engineering Intern is part of the Engineering department, which resides on the Product Engineering team and reports to the Director of Product Engineering. As our Security Engineering Intern you will gain experience as a security engineer while helping to build and maintain cybersecurity tools within the CIS Managed Service offerings. This role requires a strong computer science background with an emphasis in cybersecurity technology and tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of security monitoring, including host and network-based detection systems in addition to SIEM/SOAR technology.
What You'll Do:
Assist the SIEM/SOAR development team with managing the product backlog and prioritizing work based on SOC operational needs and organizational objectives
Assist with testing activities as part of learning the product suite.
Assist in defining and building detection use cases
Build internal and customer facing dashboards
Assist in reviewing and improving product and workflow documentation
Build customer onboarding documents for log sources
Investigate, recommend, and implement ways that AI tools can assist in accelerating workflows and document creation
Communicate product information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Participate in agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, story refinements, and team retrospectives; ensure the team has a clear understanding of priorities, milestones, and next steps in each product’s lifecycle
Stay current on technological trends and work with various stakeholders and teams to understand our users’ needs and determine how to deliver the most value to customers

What You'll Need:
A student in their junior year or above working towards a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Software Engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience and knowledge
Overall GPA is 3.0 or higher and Major GPA 2.8 or higher
Familiarity of SIEM/SOAR platforms and security event management, including log ingestion, correlation, and alerting
Knowledge of Git or other version control system
Ability to communicate effectively with a remote team
Positive customer service and team-oriented attitude
Drive towards continual professional growth and improvement
Must be authorized to work in the United States
It's a Plus if You Have:
Working knowledge of UNIX-based operating systems.
Working knowledge of DEVO SIEM/SOAR
Familiarity with Endpoint Monitoring and Network Monitoring tools
Fundamental understanding of agile principles and corresponding methodologies.
Experience with CI/CD automation: testing, builds, deploys, monitoring.
