The Opportunity

As a Security Engineering - Engineer, you act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Telco Network Security, with a strong focus on securing 5G Mobile Core, RAN and Cloud-native Network platforms. You apply strong security fundamentals and build your expertise in Telco and Mobile Network Security, working with engineering, operations, architecture and delivery teams to design and implement secure, resilient network solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to securing 5G mobile networks, supporting the design and implementation of security controls across Core, RAN, transport and signalling layers

  • Identify and assess security risks and vulnerabilities across network functions, APIs and interfaces, and support remediation activities

  • Work with Engineering, architecture and delivery teams to embed security requirements into solution design and change activities

  • Support threat modelling, security reviews and control validation for new and evolving 4G/5G capabilities

  • Assist with secure deployment and hardening of Linux, containers and Kubernetes-based platforms

  • Contribute to security standards, design guidance and assurance activities aligned to telecom and enterprise requirements

  • Investigate security events and control gaps, and support improvements to detection and response

  • Support compliance, audit and risk management activities by providing technical input and remediation support

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders and Vendors to improve security outcomes across the network lifecycle

  • Work with your team to solve complex problems, using analytical thinking and considering diverse viewpoints

  • Document your work clearly to support operational support, knowledge sharing and business continuity

  • Take ownership of your tasks, seeking guidance where needed and contributing to team outcomes

  • Maintain a continuous learning mindset, building knowledge in security, telecom and emerging technologies

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including improving automation and CI/CD capabilities

About You

Essential Experience

  • Strong understanding of Network security principles

  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards

  • Exposure to applying security frameworks in practical engineering contexts aligned to enterprise or regulatory requirements

  • Identity & Access Management

  • Threat modelling and risk assessment

  • Ability to analyse security risks and contribute to practical mitigation actions

  • Exposure to 4G/5G mobile networks (core and/or RAN)

  • Understanding of telecom architecture, signalling and network interfaces

  • Interest in building deeper expertise in telco security domains

  • Familiarity with or interest in Linux systems, containers (Docker), Kubernetes, and virtualisation or cloud platforms such as OpenStack, VMware, AWS or Azure.

  • Awareness of or exposure to Devsecops - CI/CD pipelines and automation, tools such as Ansible or YAML.

  • Experience working in Agile environments

Good to have

  • Familiarity with Telecom-related technologies and frameworks such as SDN/NFV, ETSI standards, or mobile network signalling concepts

  • Experience or interest in automation or scripting to improve operational efficiency and support security controls

  • Interest in building deeper expertise in 5G mobile core, RAN and telecom security domains, and staying up to date with emerging threats
