Job Description

A bit about us

At Gamma, our people are at the heart of everything we do. When you join us, you’ll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that’s transforming how businesses connect and communicate across the UK and Europe.

We’re growing fast, but we never lose sight of what matters: our people. Whether you're looking to develop your skills, take on new challenges, or make a meaningful impact, Gamma is the place to do it.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Technical Security Engineer to join our Group Security function. This role is ideal for a technically strong security professional who enjoys designing and delivering security solutions across a diverse technology landscape. You’ll act as a trusted subject matter expert, working closely with technology, engineering, and IT teams to ensure Gamma’s security controls and tooling are robust, effective, and future-proof.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

Here are a few examples of what you could be involved with:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining technical security systems to protect Gamma’s products, applications, systems, and networks.
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving security standards, controls, and procedures across the organisation.
  • Working closely with Technology, Engineering, and IT teams to identify, assess, and resolve security risks and issues.
  • Ensuring modern, best-practice technical security approaches are applied across a broad and evolving technology stack.
  • Acting as a key point of contact between Group Security Engineering and Security Operations during high-priority security incidents.
  • Serving as Gamma’s subject matter expert for security tooling and technical controls.
  • Contributing to technical security thought leadership, helping to shape future security architecture and capabilities.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need experience in everything listed—but we’re especially keen to hear from people with some of the following skills:

  • Exposure to a broad range of technologies including Windows, Linux, containers, and cloud environments.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and delivering technical security controls.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex environments and engineer effective security solutions.
  • Sound decision-making skills, able to recommend and justify appropriate security tooling and approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence and build strong working relationships across multiple teams.
  • A proactive mindset with a strong focus on continuous learning and improvement.

Desirable

CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst+ (CySA+).

GIAC (SANS) certifications.

Telecommunications industry experience.

Security engineering or systems administration background.

Experience supporting projects and product teams to identify security gaps and define remediation plans.

Development experience and familiarity with threat modelling, security frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF), and risk management.

What do we offer you?

  • 25 days annual leave + birthday
  • Subsidised private medical insurance
  • 5.1% matched pension contributions
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Life assurance and Income protection
  • Share save and incentive plans
  • Electric Vehicle and Cycle scheme
  • Employee discounts
  • Volunteer day

A few things to note

We require all candidates to be eligible to work in the UK and pass a basic DBS check.

If you don’t meet every requirement but feel you could thrive in this role, we would still encourage you to apply.

This role is hybrid 3-days onsite either rom our Manchester Newbury or London office.

Gamma is an equal-opportunity employer committed to building diverse, inclusive teams where everyone feels valued and can be their authentic selves. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially those underrepresented in our industry. As a family-friendly employer, we foster a culture of trust, autonomy, and flexibility to support your work-life balance and help you thrive at Gamma.

For recruitment agencies – we have a network of fantastic partners that support us in our hiring from time to time. We’re not looking to increase that network currently, so please don’t send speculative CVs.
