Job Description

emergiTEL is hiring a Security Developer for our client in the financial services industry. This is a Contract role.
Compensation: $100 - $140/hour
Location: Calgary
  • Design, develop, and architect scalable security features and identity adapters, ensuring Security-by-Design across the product lifecycle
  • Engineer and automate application security testing (SAST, DAST, SCA) within CI/CD pipelines to identify vulnerabilities at scale
  • Lead Security Architecture Reviews for complex identity flows; provide expert guidance on OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and JWT implementation and remediation
  • Define and standardize enterprise security control libraries; validate effectiveness through automated controls
  • Review application architectures from a security perspective and guide teams on vulnerability remediation
  • Support teams in assessing, selecting, implementing, and validating security controls
  • Develop and deploy Automated Security Validation (ASV) frameworks that programmatically exploit identified vulnerabilities
  • Design and implement “Security-as-Code” solutions to validate controls across pipelines and produce automated, evidence-based risk reporting
  • Operationalize STRIDE-based threat modeling standards; mentor developers to lead threat modeling sessions
  • Drive secure coding standards and lead Security Champion programs to foster security culture
  • Build security telemetry pipelines and executive dashboards for real-time, risk-based application security visibility
  • Implement custom code gating and automation to detect and block vulnerable code before deployment
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools for vulnerability detection and remediation to reduce manual effort
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) for inventory and risk management
  • Advance secure development assurance initiatives, including AppSec portals, training, and governance processes
  • Define measurable security performance metrics and standardized testing frameworks for compliance and quality
  • Act as a key technical security advisor across engineering and product teams
