Job Description
You will manage and direct external consultants, coordinate internal engineering disciplines, and act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders on all SICT matters. The role reports directly to the Head of Design Delivery, working with the Head of SICT, Head of IT and Networks and Director of Security and Compliance, ensuring alignment between design output, standardisation and operational security requirements.
Technical Design Ownership
- Take full technical ownership of Security & ICT design packages across hyperscale data centre projects, including substations, gatehouses, generator compounds, commercial offices, and site-wide external networks
- Lead initial feasibility studies, defining scope, technical approach, and high-level design direction for new projects and client enquiries
- Produce and oversee the production of design specification packages including drawings, technical specifications, schematic diagrams, and procurement packs.
- Lead projects through RIBA stages 1-4 handing over and supporting the design and technical elements / RFI’s / tech sub during the construction stages of projects
- Ensure all specifications, drawings, and calculations meet industry, legal, and quality standards and in accordance with Pure’s designs standards and customer requirements
- Managing several projects simultaneously
Client Engineering Management
- Act as the client-facing SICT Engineering Manager, representing Pure DC's design capability and providing expert technical design to external customers
- Provide clear technical direction, present design solutions, and manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate the SICT design at technical meetings with client teams and technical counterparts across other engineering disciplines
- Manage and direct external design consultants, ensuring output quality, programme adherence, and alignment with Pure DC standards
- Provide direction, mentorship, and support to the wider project team on SICT -related matters
Stakeholder Management
- Manage internal stakeholders across Design Delivery, SICT, Operational Security, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and coordinated design delivery
- Manage external stakeholders including clients, third-party consultants, vendors, and regulatory bodies
- Continuously monitor and report project progress to all stakeholders, generating reports on progress, risks, and solutions
- Provide feedback and contribute lessons learned to the Security & ICT document library.
Deliverables
- Regular meetings with teams remotely across UK, Asia, and UAE time zones
- Technical ownership of design packages from feasibility to handover
- Lead project planning and implementation with the project team
- Define project scope, objectives, and delivery milestones with the project team
- Manage project budget and resource allocation
- Provide direction and support for the project team
- Continuously monitor and report project progress to all stakeholders
- Generate reports containing project progress, problems, and solutions
- Implement and manage project changes and intervene to achieve project outcomes
- Conduct evaluation and assessment of results

Essential
- Degree in an appropriate ICT infrastructure design engineering discipline, or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrable track record in the delivery and coordination of ICT infrastructure design on large-scale projects (data centres, critical infrastructure, or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of current H&S legislation, IT standards (TIA/EIA, ISO, BS EN), and UK regulations
- Excellent IT skills including proficiency in AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office suite
- Working within Construction Document management Portals (Aconex, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
- Proven experience managing external consultants and leading multi-disciplinary design coordination
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and resource allocation
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with CAD document handling, Bluebeam, and navigating Revit file management
- Experience in a military or hyperscale data centre environment
Desirable
- RCDD, CNIDP, or equivalent certification
- Certified manufacturer qualifications such as Axis Communications, Cisco, CEM Systems, Genetec, or Milestone
- Demonstrable CPD record in engineering/technology subjects
- Knowledge of server appliances and large RAID storage arrays (Dell, HP)
The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment screening to BS 7858:2019, or national equivalent. This covers: confirmation of identity, legal right to work, financial probity, criminal history, and associations with proscribed organisations.
