BAE Systems Digital Intelligence business operations rely on Cryptoraphic operations and projects across multiple sites. As we pursue an ambitious strategy and continue to expand our international and UK markets, we are enhancing our security capability to ensure that our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our people and assets is achieved.

You will be managing, securing, completing audits of cryptographic assets, keys and materials in compliance with government (JSP490) and corporate security policies. You will also take a leadership role in managing the Digital Intelligence security administration function, including engagement with HMG security clearance stakeholders and by providing oversight and direction to the Digital Intelligence security administration team.

Core duties:

  • You will have oversight, direction and day-to-day leadership of the Digital Intelligence security administration function (including clearances, onboarding and JML functions). Manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient, effective and resilient delivery of this critical enabling capability.
  • You will support the Digital Intelligence Crypto Custodian in the control and management of all Crypto assets, policies and mandatory processes set out within the JSP490 and IS4 government set guidelines. Ensure compliance with HMG and Local policy and procedures governing CRYPTO/ACCSEC assets, including adhering to JSP490 and IS4 policies and procedures ensuring the FSC accreditation is maintained
  • You will travel to Digital Intelligence sites will be required to complete Crypto audit requirements that must be conducted in person. Undertake spot checks on all CRYPTO and ACCSEC items as directed by the Cryptographic policy.
  • You will manage of monthly reports from all sites, crypto registers, mustering and briefings, moving of crypto, secure storage and accountability of all crypto assets to be mustered on a weekly basis and other compliance and accounting activities as directed by the Digital Intelligence Crypto Custodian.
  • You will deliver Cryptographic briefings to Holders, Users and Technical staff to ensure they understand HMG and local policy and procedures governing the handling of CRYPTO/ACCSEC and protectively marked assets.
  • You will respond to security incidents and, where necessary, initiate immediate upward incident reporting action on any suspected or actual cryptographic or crypto security incidents. Where appropriate, undertake or co-ordinate incident investigation, report compilation and recovery of assets

Essential Skills:

  • You will be an agile, analytical thinker who can assess situations, prioritise commitments and provide sound security advice whilst remaining calm under pressure, this will be demonstrated through excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • You will have previous experience in a security role including within a highly regulated environment
  • You will be familiar with HMG security policies and a willingness to upskill understanding relating to the national baseline measures for the storage, handling, movement and routine destruction of Cryptographic items
  • You will have knowledge of recognised standards and methodologies for managing risk and security
  • You will have proven experience in managing sensitive, classified material or high security assets. Experience with auditing, compliance, and risk management would be beneficial in this role
  • As Crypto Custodian, you will be required to attend a recognised Cryptographic Custodian Course
