Job Description

Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers.

The Section Manager will work on the Digital Products team to develop and enhance Customer Energy Solutions products that support energy efficiency, electrification and distributed energy resource market participation. The successful candidate will provide thought leadership in a wide array of clean energy use cases, manage project financials, adhere to project schedules and scope, as well as build and manage a team of professionals to continuously evolve and expand the set of use cases. The Section Manager must have or develop a deep understanding of the various CES business processes and programs.

Core Responsibilities

  • The Section Manager will work on the Digital Products team to develop and enhance Customer Energy Solutions products that support energy efficiency, electrification and distributed energy resource market participation, and more products as they emerge.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the various CES business processes and programs.
  • Provide thought leadership in a wide array of clean energy use cases, build relationships and communications strategies, manage project financials, adhere to project schedules and scope, as well as manage and develop a team of professionals to Continuously evolve and expand the set of use cases.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Product Owners and Business Analysts supporting diverse software and data platforms. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented culture.
  • Partner closely with the Data Engineering Manager, Software Development Manager, and Production Support Manager within the Digital Products group. Maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and key stakeholders across CES, IT, Customer Operations, and Metering business units.
  • Prepare and deliver consistent communications and performance reporting across internal teams and external stakeholders, tailoring information for executive, operational, and technical audiences.
  • Drive and prioritize platform and product strategies that align with current and future business needs. Promote holistic product design, scalability, and standardization to enable seamless integration and reuse across business units.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program and project plans, resource schedules, and release roadmaps. Coordinate execution, monitor progress, and track product health metrics to ensure efficient delivery and ongoing improvement.
  • Identify and address root causes of issues affecting product performance or delivery quality. Continuously refine internal processes to improve team efficiency, product value, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Oversee the administration of product portfolios, including budget tracking, resource allocation, and reporting. Create and manage necessary contracts, Statements of Work (SOWs), purchase orders (POs), appropriations, and receiving documentation.
  • Support a culture of safety, accountability, and customer focus. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and cyber hygiene.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and special assignments as required to support the Digital Products portfolio.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Clean Energy, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, or applicable degree and a minimum eight years related experience. or
  • Master's Degree in Business, Clean Energy, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, or applicable degree and a minimum six years related experience.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree in Business, Clean Energy, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, or applicable degree and eight ears related work experience in Agile Software development.

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least three (3) years supervisory managerial experience, is Required.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive results by collaborating with stakeholders to build consensus, is Required.
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of management and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience, Required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication is Required.
  • Must be comfortable and skilled at communicating and convincing others of new processes and techniques, Required.
  • Innovation and ability to adapt to change, is Required.
  • Strong skills and experience with the MS Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project, is Required.
  • Experience with creating requirements and tracking projects in Azure Dev or similar, is Preferred.
  • Project management, operational experience, forecasting and capital program experience, is Preferred.
  • Experience managing budgets and forecasts, is Preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings to decompose business processes and understand required changes to leverage benefits of analytics, is Preferred.
  • Experience developing resource plans for large project and the roles required for delivery, is Preferred.
  • Experience in producing formal presentations and documentation for executive and regulatory share out, is Preferred.
  • Experience in effective communication with government and regulatory staff, is Preferred.
  • Experience with SAFe Agile program management and/or transformation, is Preferred.
  • Experience with energy efficiency, demand-side management, electric vehicles, and/or other clean energy program from a utility or participating vendor perspective, is Preferred.
  • Familiar with New York States Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), Con Edisons rate case, New Efficiency New York, and/or other relevant clean energy regulations or proceedings, is Preferred.

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
