Job Description

As a Vendor Management Office (VMO) Relationship Manager, you will act as the primary strategic interface between Enterprise Technology & Security (ETS), internal stakeholders, and assigned technology vendors. You will drive vendor governance through structured performance management, including scorecards, QBRs, KPIs/SLAs, and action plans, while facilitating effective communication, escalation, and issue resolution. This role focuses on shifting vendor engagement away from transactional activity toward strategic oversight, continuous improvement, strong stakeholder experience, and measurable business outcomes while enforcing VMO standards and playbooks.

We are seeking someone that brings experience managing technology vendors and stakeholder relationships in complex environment, along with a solid understanding of service delivery, performance metrics, and commercial constructs. We are also seeking an effective communicator and facilitator, comfortable leading governance forums and translating data into insights and actions.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Core Responsibilities

  • Acts as the relationship lead between ETS, internal stakeholders, and assigned technology vendors to ensure effective collaboration and alignment
  • Leads vendor performance management through structured governance frameworks, leveraging KPIs, SLAs, scorecards, QBRs, and data driven action plans
  • Ensures consistent service delivery across the vendor portfolio, proactively managing issues and escalations to resolution
  • Drives strategic alignment and clear communication between vendors and business partners to deliver measurable value and support evolving business needs
  • Operationalizes VMO playbooks, standards, and engagement models to drive consistency, scalability, and value in vendor engagements
  • Leverages service performance, experience metrics, and satisfaction insights to identify risk, inform decisions, and drive value focused continuous improvement
  • Leads periodic evaluation and refinement of ETS vendor segmentation to ensure strategic vendors are correctly designated and receive appropriate executive visibility and engagement
  • Manages a team through coaching, performance management, and effective work assignments to drive aligned execution and business outcomes
  • Coordinates contract changes for strategic vendors (including evaluation, negotiations, contract-management approval, physical update of contract, etc.); develops and implements change management protocols; identifies where changes are required, evaluates the impact, and advises stakeholders about the implications and consequences for the business and/or the procurement element of programs/projects; negotiates contract changes and seeks appropriate authorization
  • Manages oversight of the provider commercial relationship, safeguarding the integrity, effectiveness, and ongoing suitability of pricing models and commercial mechanisms
  • Shifts vendor engagement toward strategic partnership, strengthening oversight, accountability, and delivery of business value
  • Performs other related tasks and assignments as required

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience or
  • Master's Degree and a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Supply Chain, Computer Science, or other related function and a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience in managing strategic technology vendors within an IT environment, including leading vendor performance governance

Relevant Work Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years supervisory or managerial experience supervising, coaching, and developing team, required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience acting as the primary relationship lead between internal stakeholders and external vendors, required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience managing vendor performance using KPIs, SLAs, scorecards, QBRs, and corrective action plans, required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience facilitating governance forums and communicating with cross-functional business and technology stakeholders, required
  • A minimum of 4 years experience participating in or leading vendor segmentation and tiering activities, required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience negotiating vendor contract terms, pricing structures, or commercial changes, required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working within or supporting a large, complex enterprise IT organization, required

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able and willing to travel within the United States, as needed
