(JD) – Section Engineer (Civil) – Railway Project

Position: Section Engineer (Civil)
Experience: 5+ Years
Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized university.
Location: Railway Project Site

Role Purpose

The Section Engineer (Civil) will be responsible for supervising and monitoring civil construction activities related to railway infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely execution of works in accordance with project specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction activities related to railway formation, embankment, cutting, bridges, culverts, station buildings, drainage works, and other civil infrastructure.

  • Monitor day-to-day site execution and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders for smooth project execution.

  • Review work progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.

  • Conduct site inspections and ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

  • Verify measurements, contractor bills, and quantity records.

  • Assist in resolving technical issues arising during project execution.

  • Monitor material quality, testing activities, and compliance with relevant railway standards and codes.

  • Ensure timely completion of assigned works within budget and project timelines.

  • Support project documentation, record keeping, and preparation of reports for management.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of railway civil construction practices and standards.

  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and construction supervision.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project monitoring tools.

  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering works, with at least 2–3 years in railway infrastructure projects.

  • Experience in construction supervision, quality assurance, and contract management for railway projects.

  • Knowledge of Indian Railways, Metro Rail, RDSO, or similar railway project standards will be preferred.

  • Timely and quality execution of assigned civil works.

  • Compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.

  • Accurate progress monitoring, reporting, and documentation.

  • Effective coordination among project stakeholders and contractors.
