Performs skilled keyboarding and clerical work of moderate difficulty and complexity, usually requiring familiarity with specialized terminology and/or various software packages. Duties are more structured and is expected to complete tasks more independently.

- Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.
- Types, utilizing a keyboard, and edits a variety of material, frequently involving technical or specialized terminology; transcribes from dictating equipment.
- Reviews documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
- Composes routine correspondence; proofreads and/or finalizes letters, memoranda, reports or other documents for approval and/or signature.
- Establishes and maintains filing systems, prepares records for storage and/or archiving.
- Prepares purchase and supply requisitions, personnel and/or payroll records, time and leave records, expense accounts, or other program or agency documents; arranges travel and accommodations; maintains equipment and supply inventory.
- Processes and distributes mail according to established procedures; prepares material for mailing utilizing automated equipment when applicable.
- Serves as receptionist or information clerk; determines purpose of contact; provides general information and assist in preparation of forms if needed; directs individuals to proper destination; receives and distributes messages, and schedules and/or arranges appointments as necessary.
- Prepares and summarizes data or reports from a variety of sources in accordance with specific instructions or procedures.
- Enters and updates information in automated systems; develops routine spreadsheets and databases; utilizes various software packages in performance of duties.
- Operates standard office equipment.
- Six or more (6+) months of experience in clerical or general office workTraining from a vocational or business school in office management, secretarial science ore closely related area.

As an engine for positive change, BronxCare has infused more than $400 million into the Bronx economy, including a new Pediatric Specialty Center and Ophthalmology Practice, among numerous other capital projects. A new 33-bed Medical-Surgical Unit at the Concourse Hospital Division and 20-bed Adult Psychiatric Unit at the Fulton Hospital Division will increase inpatient capacity to 912 beds, further reinforcing BronxCare’s ability to address the significant needs of the Bronx community.
BronxCare is also modernizing its Inpatient Maternity and Labor and Delivery Units, as well as its Women’s Health Center and Neurology Suite, to improve the patient experience. Additionally, BronxCare’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center Practice at 174th Street will be opening.
