Job Description

Basic Purpose and Objective:
Maintain efficient operation of thread rolling and tapping machines through various troubleshooting methods and procedures.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set-up production jobs in thread tapping and rolling machines
    • Remove and clean tooling from thread tapping and rolling machines
    • Install tooling into thread tapping and rolling machines, verifying set-up runs at required rate while making parts that meet all specification requirements
    • Inspect previous job tooling and replace worn/broken tools prior to storage
    • Prepare all required documentation
  • Troubleshoot errors and make minor adjustments on thread tapping and rolling machines to maintain consistent operation at maximum efficiency
  • Change production consumable tooling (taps and dies)
  • Fill and maintain correct concentration of coolant tanks
  • Clean tap shavings and other debris from feed systems and scrap chutes
  • Read job specifications and engineering drawings to determine inspection requirements.
  • Clean machine and work area
  • Housekeeping/6S

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities (As Needed):

  • Perform hourly and process containment dimensional check on threaded parts
  • Collect data for SPC charts and make necessary calculations to complete and fill out all charting.
  • Ability to lift Pierce Nut stock manually, with hoist or lift truck and positions
  • Verify thread dimensions of Pierce Nuts with specifications using the containment pan to assure that non-conforming work pieces are scraped and/or saved for further analysis by the quality department.
  • Visually inspect parts for quality issues
  • Use a computer system to track active production jobs

Qualifications

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift approximately 40 lbs. from floor level to waist, and waist to floor approximately 5 times per hour
  • Must be able to stand approximately 8-10 hrs./day
  • Visual acuity for detailed work
  • Manual dexterity
  • Mechanical ability
  • Able to bend, twist, and squat in sometimes awkward positions for prolonged periods of time while exerting force (pushing or pulling) on hand tools to adjust machine
  • Visual acuity for detailed work

  • Create and maintain a safe work environment; repair and/or report non-conformances to company safety policies and guidelines 
  • Perform the necessary safety requirements to avoid injury to self and fellow employees

Experience Required:

  • The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
  • Mechanical problem solving and/or maintenance background
  • 1 or more years’ experience setting new jobs in thread tapping and/or thread rolling machines

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training

Position Type/Expectations of Working Hours:

  • Full time position
  • Regularly scheduled to work 8 – 10 hours a day
  • Must be able to work Monday – Saturday
  • Must reliably attend scheduled shifts

Shifts Available:

  • 1st Shift Mon. - Fri. 6 am - 4:30 pm; Sat. 6 am - 2 pm
  • 2nd Shift Mon. - Fri. 4:30 pm - 3:00 am; Sat. 2 pm - 10 pm*
  • 3rd Shift Mon. - Fri. 7:30 pm - 6 am; Sat. 2 pm - 10 pm*

*Hourly rate shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shift
