In September 2013, The International School of Texas was founded by a group of 13 brave parents who shared a common vision of an exceptional education for their children: one that is marked by free thought, equal opportunity, and the development of our core values of Respect, Integrity, Confidence, Intellect, and Service. Over the years that passed, IST quickly outgrew its initial location and moved into a newly completed campus west of Austin. In August of 2024, we opened the doors to our new, state-of-the-art campus in the rolling hills of Bee Cave, and we launched our first cohort of high school students.
Since 2017, IST has been an authorized International Baccalaureate World School. The International School Texas is seeking to appoint a Secondary School Learning Specialist.

The Secondary School Learning Specialist serves our Secondary School population and supports students with identified learning differences by providing appropriate interventions; supports teachers in their efforts to advance students with different learning need within the classroom; and works with parents, students, and outside professionals in order to better support academic progress.
This role focuses on the provision of targeted support, largely in Math but with other broader support areas, to students in grades 6-10 through individual and small group instruction. The Learning Specialist works to close achievement gaps, reinforce core concepts, and build student confidence. This role also involves close collaboration with classroom teachers to help students meet grade-level academic standards. The specialist’s broad area of responsibility is to ensure that each student may learn and flourish academically, socially, and emotionally, and upon graduation is prepared for a successful transition to college.
The Secondary School Learning Specialist reports to the Head of Secondary School.
