Secondary: ISS Monitor 2026-2027-(260000IC)
The Monitor ISS will perform skilled paraprofessional work which requires the incumbent to assist the classroom teacher in performing a variety of tasks designed to enhance the learning of students identified as academically and/or behaviorally at risk. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor students assigned to In School Suspension and P.M. detention
- Relieve teachers, as needed in the classroom
- Coordinate assignments with teachers; reinforce teacher lesson plans and assignments; review progress; administer tests
- Communicate with teachers and supervise in a timely manner regarding student progress
- Maintain attendance and cumulative records; monitor the movement of students in the building
- Assist with classroom management at the discretion of the teacher, e.g., monitoring student behavior, following management behavior plan, encouraging students to work independently, ensuring students understand and follow established classroom rules for acceptable behavior
- Check student work, including objective test materials
- Maintain records and files; perform general clerical duties
- Assist with supervision in the cafeteria during lunch times

- Texas Educational Aide Certification preferred or will be required to obtain once hired
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
Additional Information- Work is in a classroom setting and may require using student intervention techniques in handling student conduct.
