ROLE SUMMARY:

The British College of Gavà is seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Secondary History Teacher to join our growing international school on a maternity cover basis from October 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking school with exceptional purpose-built facilities. The successful candidate will be passionate about History, committed to student achievement and wellbeing, and keen to contribute to the wider life of our school community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver engaging, challenging and inquiry-based History lessons.
• Plan and differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students.
• Assess, monitor and provide effective feedback on student progress.
• Create a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
• Use technology effectively to enhance learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and assessment.
• Contribute to pastoral care, extracurricular activities and wider school life.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
• Engage in professional development and uphold the school’s values and safeguarding policies.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A degree in History or a related subject and a recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching History at secondary level.
• Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for inspiring young people.
• Strong classroom management, organisation and communication skills.
• The ability to differentiate effectively and set high expectations for students.
• Confidence using ICT to support teaching and learning.
• A collaborative, flexible and positive approach.
• A strong commitment to student wellbeing and continuous improvement.
