Title: Principal, Middle School

Under general direction, serves as the instructional and strategic leader for the school; provides instructional and professional leadership to faculty and staff members; administers all components of a Middle School, including instructional leadership, curriculum implementation, monitoring of instruction, maintenance of physical plant, and budget management; ensures compliance with state and federal laws.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are representative for this position. Tasks and responsibilities will be in concurrence with implementing the Strategic Plan and Aligned Management System. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Leads and monitors implementation of the school system curriculum as mandated by the Georgia Department of Education and school system initiatives through classroom visits, grade level and department meetings, scheduling and other related activities.
Communicates organizational goals and objectives to stakeholders.
Plans for student success; evaluates staff and program effectiveness through data analysis and other assessment forms.
Recruits, trains, and retains highly qualified staff.
Facilitates interpersonal interactions including, but not limited to problem resolution with students, parents and staff.
Manages finances, resources and physical plant.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree in Education, Education Administration or closely related area is required.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching or education experience required AND a minimum of 3 years of administrative leadership experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PERMITS:
Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in educational leadership at level L-5, NL-5, PL-6 or above required. If a level L-5, NL-5, PL-6 or above certificate is not held, the individual must be eligible for the NPL certificate in educational leadership.
