Position Information

Authorized Job Title: Maintenance Worker I

Functional Title: Maintenance Worker

Reports To: Day Supervisor

Department: Facilities

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Completes and/or assists with assigned building repairs, construction projects, preventive maintenance and custodial duties.

Functions

  • Completes and/or assist skilled trade’s workers in daily maintenance.
  • Completes and/or assist with picture framing, hanging pictures and carpentry projects.
  • Completes and/or assist with custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping and picking up trash.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Dimensions

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and cold, and the risk of electrical shock.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Language/Reasoning Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Physical Demands: The employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, and kneel. The employee must be able to lift and/or move 25-100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Minimum Qualifications

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license required.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years related experience and/or training in a maintenance environment; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
