The Provo City Recreation Division is looking for responsible individuals to fill the position of Zamboni Driver at the Peaks Ice Arena in Provo, Utah for the winter season. Under the direction of the Ice Arena Manager, the Zamboni Drivers are responsible for maintaining a quality ice surface through scheduled resurfacings and other assigned ice maintenance. Qualified individuals interested in performing these recreational services are encouraged to apply.
What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour. (Payment will be made by direct deposit.)

What will I do?
Operate ice resurfacing machines.
Maintain facility schedule by following posted resurfacing times.
Assist with other assigned ice maintenance duties.
Use measuring devices.
May operate other job-related machines, vehicles, and/or other equipment.
May assist in the visual inspection of machines, equipment, and/or associated parts to identify defects or need for maintenance.
Observe general surroundings and activities to ensure safe execution of duties.
Communicate any concerns and/or needs of the building and its equipment.
Sharpen customer and rental skates.
Assist in basic guest service needs at the Peaks Ice Arena.
Support fellow teams members as needed and perform other related duties as required.
What do I need to apply?
Sufficient knowledge, experience, and/or skills that would demonstrate an ability to perform the duties of the position with particular emphasis on operating heavy machinery.
Must be 18 years of age at time of appointment.
Ice skating experience helpful.
Preference given for prior experience operating ice resurfacing equipment.
What are the hours and duration of this position?
Monday through Friday - 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Saturday - 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Sunday - 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, 2 to 3 shifts per week. Actual schedule will be determined by the supervisor based upon department need.
These positions are seasonal and are slated to run from August 22, 2026 - April 17, 2027.
What are the physical and environmental factors?
This position requires the physical strength and agility to perform the work, which includes, but is not limited to: safely operating the Zamboni ice-resurfacing vehicle, performing 10 to 20 hours of ice resurfacing per week and other varied associated activities; regularly sitting; frequently speaking or hearing; occasionally standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting. This work involves exposure to a cold air environment; wet, humid conditions (non-weather); and moderate to loud noises associated with equipment, the business office, and large groups of people.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
