Winter Lights, our largest fundraiser, transforms our gardens into a dazzling display of lights November 12th (Preview night) through January 3rd, creating an enchanting experience for all who visit. We are currently seeking Winter Lights Building Coordinators. This role will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end by 11:00 p.m. The pay is $17.00 per hour.
In this role, you'll serve as the primary contact/resource for other staff and guests at the event. This role will focus on building management. Duties include answering guest and staff questions, providing excellent customer service through various forms of communication, and monitoring radio activity during the event. The Building Coordinator ensures that guests in the building are safe and following Arboretum event regulations. This position will help monitor the Wishing Tree station, replenishing supplies when needed.
The Building Coordinator regularly checks in with the Producer and is expected to interact with guests most of the shift. These interactions can occur by standing to greet guests entering the building and making periodic strolls through the building to ensure a positive and safe guest experience. This position is responsible for helping to prepare the building for guests.
The Building Coordinator is also responsible for making certain that all guests have exited the building at the close of the event, radioing the shuttle to pick up staff and volunteers when their shifts are complete, and locking up the building and turning off all lights.
Evenings and weekend work is required. Holiday availability is REQUIRED of all positions.

Winter Lights is the primary fundraiser for The North Carolina Arboretum. Featuring over a million lights, guests will walk through the gardens to experience the show. Winter Lights runs every evening from November 15th through January 4th.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. A high school (or equivalent) is required and a background check is conducted as a part of employment.
Customer Service: This position will require strong customer service skills including a solid knowledge of event procedures, attentiveness to customer feedback and the ability to use positive language. Communication: Must have excellent and courteous written and verbal communication skills for interaction with both internal and external publics. Must have the ability to screen and direct clients and visitors to the appropriate source, inform the public about services, processes, procedures and guidelines. This position will need to follow both written and oral instructions. Work Management: Ability to coordinate tasks and establish priorities in response to work flow, be detail-oriented and have a high level of organization. Must be able to manage multiple projects with accuracy and exhibit stellar time management skills. Technology: Proficient use of computers including Microsoft Office and Google Suite, as well a s the ability to navigate and learn new programs quickly.
