This position encompasses working in the field alongside the Transportation Operations crews to assist in their daily duties including but not limited to performing: Roadside tree trimming, vegetation management and Right of Way mowing, flagging and emergency response operations and hazard calls as well as other duties as assigned. The principal duties of this class are performed in an outdoors environment with possible exposure to a variety of terrains and weather conditions.

The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform a variety of maintenance and repair duties specific to functional area of assignment. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned supervisors, other City employees, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in an outdoors environment with possible exposure to a variety of terrains and weather conditions. This is a non-exempt position.

Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, ASL, or any other language spoken by over 10% of the City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, will receive a monthly 3% premium pay. The incentive is only paid on hours in paid status. Proficiency will be determined by a City-administered test.
