Transportation Technician I - Roosevelt

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Region Three is now hiring a Seasonal Transportation Technician I to support operations at our Roosevelt Maintenance Station.

Position Information

• Salary Range: $22.44 - $24.79 (depends on experience)
  
• Location: Roosevelt Maintenance Station - 400 W Hwy 40, Roosevelt, UT 84066
• Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time Hours, Career Service Exempt (Schedule TL - Time Limited, At-Will)
• Benefits: No

What You'll Do

As a Transportation Technician I, you will operate heavy equipment and perform specialized roadway maintenance, including:

• Snow & Ice Removal: Clear state roadways using snowplows, graders, blowers, and specialized heavy equipment.
• Roadway Maintenance: Repair traffic signs, fences, guardrails, and other critical roadway features.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate, inspect, and maintain CDL-restricted vehicles, tools, and heavy equipment.
• Emergency Response: Assist with urgent roadway issues and storm response as needed.
  

Key Requirements

• Valid CDL: Must possess a current Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) upon hire.
• Response Time: Ability to report to the Roosevelt Maintenance Station (400 W Hwy 40, Roosevelt, UT 84066) within 30 minutes during call-outs.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work nights, be on-call, and respond promptly during severe weather and winter storms.
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Mindset: Dependable, motivated team player who prioritizes safety and takes pride in public service.
  

Preferred Experience

• Previous UDOT, heavy roadway maintenance, or highway construction experience.
• Heavy equipment and CDL vehicle operation.
• Commercial snow removal and winter driving operations.
