Salary Range starting at: $340/Week

Job Objective:

The Program Aide will assist with the provision of camp programs and recreational activities to campers and assist in the general care and well-being of campers. Additionally responsible for the care and set up of all camp activity resources, supplies and equipment.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist Program Coordinator in preparing program spaces and supplies for use, according to the camp schedule.
  • Lead or assist camp classes and activities as assigned.
  • Assist with evening programs as assigned.
  • Have a direct area of responsibility under camp programming, which could be one of the following based on skills and abilities:
    • Recreation: assist with the planning & operation of the Ropes Course, leading campers in other recreational activities such as fishing, archery, paintball, mountain bikes, and air rifles.
    • Arts & Crafts: maintaining the craft cart, coming up with craft ideas and teaching them to campers and other staff, informing the Program Coordinator when more supplies are needed.
    • Athletics & Games: lead campers in sports activities and games, maintain the cleanliness of the rec shed, ensure staff and leaders have equipment they need for classes and programs.
    • Photography & Media: take pictures of all camp activities as assigned and treat the camp camera carefully, determine photos to be used for weekly slide show and social media, run sound & media during chapel sessions.
    • Supplies & Cleaning: deliver camper supplies to cabins as needed, manage camper lost & found items, make sure cabins & program spaces have adequate cleaning supplies, ensure program areas are cleaned properly.
  • Assist cabin counselors in caring for the well-being and safety of campers, including assisting counselors with wake up and bedtime routines as needed.
  • Work in the snack shop as assigned.
  • Assist at camper registration.
  • Maintain organization of supply storage areas, including Admin work room, rec shed, and Centerwood storage.
  • Participate and assist as assigned in all camp activities.
  • Comply with camp policies.
  • Observe the spiritual emphasis of camp.
  • Keep living quarters clean and neat at all times.
  • Practice courtesy in sharing living space with other camp staff members.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Participate in staff meetings, evaluation sessions and devotion times.
  • Must carry radio while camp is in session on your person.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education Be a High School Student or above

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Must have experience working with children. Must have experience in relevant camp activities. Must have general knowledge of how to care for camp recreation equipment and supplies.

Certifications: Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment. Must be able to complete provided training courses for camp activities as assigned, such as paintball, mountain bikes, fishing, etc.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be a Christian who demonstrates the principles of Christian living.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to manage time well in order to accomplish multiple tasks by a set schedule.
  • Able to relate God to campers in the natural setting of camp.
  • Ability to plan a lesson or activity
  • Ability to teach a concept or lead an activity for children
  • Able to guide, direct, and supervise daily duties and responsibilities of other staff members, as assigned
  • Able to communicate well with other staff, campers and supervisors

Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities

Physical Requirements Include:

  • Able to walk for extended periods of time and across uneven terrain.
  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting materials up to 60 pounds and carry it for at least 50 feet.
  • Be physically fit enough to keep up with daily camp activities.

Travel: Position may require occasional local travel, including the use of camp vehicles across the camp property.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a residential camp setting; Work will be expected at varying and flexible times, including overnight and some scheduled weekends.
