
Seasonal Radiology Scheduler - Per Diem - 32 hours
Seasonal Per Diem Agreement Requirements:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Support Services, the Radiology Scheduler is a member of the department staff who is primarily responsible for effectively communicating with all Sierra View Medical Center customers, patients, visitors and staff to obtain necessary information to schedule exams and testing in the Radiology / Imaging Services Department. This position also requires the employee to be effective in requesting, maintaining and processing various patient and payer source information to support the patient care and billing functions.
May be assigned to work in other Imaging modalities. Must follow AIDET and accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies."
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have a basic understanding of Medical Terminology. Experience in medical office receptionist and scheduling required. Bilingual in both English and Spanish preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have fast and accurate typing and computer knowledge.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1 * Displays excellent telephone reception techniques. Schedules, refers, screens, takes and forwards calls as needed. Introduces self and calls patients by name. Answers telephone promptly.
2 Is able to explain correct preps for exams to patients and physicians offices.
3 Processes diagnostic Imaging Services reports, including corrections, mailing, courier pick-up and faxing of reports.
4 Maintains with the process of adequate stock of office supplies.
5 Schedules patients, obtaining correct demographic and billing information. Maintains accurate appointment schedules. Schedules appointments for all patients. Prepares and distributes schedule for next day appointments.
6 * Schedules procedures according to department policies and procedures in the Meditech system. Demonstrates the ability to coordinate and schedule procedures so as to promote a workable and timely schedule. Performs scheduling entries with a minimum of errors. Prepares outgoing mail. Receives visitors and answers inquiries of persons coming to the front desk. Assists in answering multi-line phones, takes messages, or route calls to appropriate person. Covers for Clerk III (Back Office) as needed.
7 Processes patient, creating correct requisition based on physician orders. Accurately searches for patient in the Master Patient Index and ensures that the proper account number is used.
8 Faxes preliminary reports to physician’s offices, or hospital nursing floors, as needed.
9 Calls and sends mail reminders to patients for appointment reminders.
10 Works directly with Specials Technologist to ensure all Interventional procedures are scheduled according to the resources requested.
11 Processes search for BUN and Creatinine levels of specific patient's prior to exam. If unable to locate, calls physicians offices as needed.
12 Is cross trained and willing to float to other areas of Radiology as needed.
