INDUSTRIAL SANITATION – Job Description


This is a great opportunity to establish yourself in a secure company with over 85 years of history. At Ice Cream Specialties you will be part of a dedicated team that manufactures and packages ice cream novelties. This is a SEASONAL position with the potential for full-time!
Shift: Sunday through Thursday 11 PM to 7 AM (with possible mandatory Fridays)

Wage: $19.95 per hour (plus shift differential from 3 PM to 7 AM)

Job Type: Full time, 90-day probation

Union: Teamsters Local 600, must join union after 30 days

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning of various machines and equipment (freezers, tanks, fruit feeders, vats, pumps, lines and tubing, pasteurizer, homogenizer, and other related equipment)
  • Cleaning of floors, drains, walls, ceiling, and exterior of equipment throughout the facility
  • CIP systems (Clean in Place process of piping using regulatory approved alkaline, chlorine, acid, and Quat based chemicals), floor scrubber, foamer, COP wash tanks
  • Flavoring mix with fruit and flavor concentrates
  • Receiving mix and operating pasteurizing system (HTST)
  • Trash pickup and removal
  • Any other job associated with sanitation (clean-up) at this facility
  • Must follow and adhere to LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out)
  • Use proper equipment/utensils per allergen notations
  • Knowledge of sanitation chemical concentrations

Education/Experience:

  • Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to read and speak English fluently (for safety purposes)
  • Highschool diploma or GED preferred
  • Industrial sanitation experience preferred
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred

Qualifications/Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to start up and shut down all the production pasteurization equipment
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions, technical manuals, and oral instructions related to the operation and cleaning of the production equipment
  • Ability to lift, push, pull product and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds out of confined spaces and occasionally having to lift product or equipment overhead
  • Must be able to pass a post offer drug screen, breath alcohol test, physical, and background check
