Job Description

PURPOSE: Bring the holidays to life at Mall of America by creating joyful, welcoming and memorable guest experiences. This flexible seasonal role supports a variety of holiday activations, which may include joining Santa's team as an elf and helping deliver many other special events throughout the holiday season including Santa’s arrival, Character Snack and Sips, and so much more

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create holiday magic by warmly welcoming guests, answering questions and helping families feel comfortable, included and excited to participate.
  • Step into assigned holiday roles, including serving as an elf or other festive character, and stay in character while interacting with guests in a lively, family-friendly way.
  • Support our Santa photo operations by greeting families, helping manage the guest line, preparing guests for their visit, assisting with photo-flow needs and keeping the experience organized and cheerful.
  • Assist at the synthetic ice rink by greeting skaters, explaining posted rules, supporting check-in and equipment flow, monitoring the activity area and helping maintain an orderly and safe guest experience.
  • Help deliver a variety of holiday events and activations, such as performances, photo opportunities, crafts, giveaways, character appearances and other seasonal programming.
  • Set up and reset event spaces by arranging supplies, props, signage, queue materials and guest-facing areas before, during and after each activation.
  • Invite guests to participate, share clear event information and adjust your approach for children, adults, families and guests with varying needs.
  • Use improvisation, storytelling, movement, dance, public speaking or other performance skills when appropriate to keep interactions festive and engaging.
  • Watch for safety concerns, follow operating procedures and promptly communicate guest needs, incidents or equipment concerns to a Team Lead or Manager.
  • Keep assigned areas clean, stocked and presentation-ready, both onstage and behind the scenes.
  • Work collaboratively with Entertainment, Security, Operations and other Mall of America teams to support smooth events and positive guest experiences.
  • Represent Mall of America with professionalism, enthusiasm and sound judgment during every guest interaction.
  • Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance throughout the seasonal assignment, including scheduled evenings, weekends and holidays.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Enthusiasm for creating memorable experiences and engaging with guests of all ages.
  • Confidence speaking with individuals and groups in a busy public environment.
  • Ability to be playful and creative while remaining professional and appropriate for a family audience.
  • Experience in guest service, events, theater, improvisation, dance, public speaking, recreation or another interactive role is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow direction, learn event procedures and shift smoothly between different assignments during a scheduled shift.
  • Strong listening, teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Dependability, flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing guest volumes and event needs.
  • Ability to wear assigned costumes or themed attire and perform in character, when scheduled.
