About this job:


Responsible for the effective application of herbicides in managing noxious and undesirable weeds on athletic fields, ornamental turf, native and bare ground areas on District-owned properties. Maintain accurate records and follows rules as required by law.

What You'll Do:


• Prepare the worksite for chemical preparation, including identifying vegetation. Assess the appropriate chemical mixture for application and select the suitable spray equipment as needed. Monitor weather conditions closely. Maintain communication with Facility Managers and potentially notify nearby property owners

• Administer herbicide applications using mechanical equipment specifically designed for chemical dispersion. Calibrate both computerized and manual spray equipment meticulously. Prepare and sanitize equipment for off-season storage and troubleshoot any issues that arise

• Provide comprehensive training to seasonal workers, emphasizing safety protocols. Verify that all necessary safety precautions are in place

• Precisely document daily operations of sprayed areas in accordance with relevant regulations. Record detailed descriptions of the treated area, including weed infestations, date, time of application, temperature, chemical rate, wind conditions, type of chemical used, amount applied, and target weeds

• Conduct routine maintenance on equipment, including checking oil and fuel levels. Clean air and particulate filters on motors and spray equipment regularly. Inspect for leaks and perform minor maintenance on hoses, seals, gaskets, and any loose parts

• Understanding of different turf types and grass varieties, and their responses to different chemicals. Proficiency in identifying various weeds, trees, flowers, shrubs, turf, and native grasses

• Capable of communicating with all levels of District management and the public.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


What You’ll Need:
  • High School Diploma/GED minimum required
  • One year experience in applying herbicide or related field.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
