The General Winery Worker is responsible for supporting safe and efficient wine production operations. This role involves operating cellar equipment, performing wine and juice movements, and conducting routine laboratory analyses. The Harvest Winery Worker ensures compliance with safety protocols, maintains cleanliness, and contributes to a productive work environment both indoors and outdoors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team members’ safety.
• Operate pumps, hoists, and other Cellar equipment.
• Wine movements – set-up and movement of wine and juice to and from tanks, barrels, and tanker trucks.
• Performs typical lab analyses with accuracy, precision, timeliness in accordance with SOPs.
• Maintain lab and equipment cleanliness and a safe, sanitary working environment.
• Adhere to and promote safety in accordance with policies and procedures. Report issues to Supervisor in a timely manner.
• Operate testing equipment in fast paced environment.
• Clean equipment and end of shift.
• Measure and calculate routine workplace data.
• Some computer data entry; updates to harvest schedules.
• Operation of Truck scales.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be available to work flexible shifts (including evenings and weekends) from August through November.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Production experience in cellar, operations, process or related.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Ability to move, traverse, and/or position oneself in the performance of various tasks.
• Ability to frequently move, transport and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies.
• Use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
• Repeatedly ascend/descend stairs and ladders at heights of 40’ and higher.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a car and travel via plan/train as needed.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in and around outdoor elements such as precipitation, wind, low/high temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
• Move safely over uneven and/or wet terrain.
• Is exposed to loud noise, fumes, and/or chemicals.
• Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic.
• Flexible hours to include overtime up to 12 hours.
• Ability to safely ride a bicycle.
• Bi-lingual is a plus.
• Working outdoors, standing for extended periods of time.
COMPENSATION
• Hourly Pay Range Posted: $18.00/hr. – New Hires. $18.50 - $24.50/hr. – Returning Hires.
• Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities, education, and other position related factors.
