Seasonal Garden Center Associate
Full-Time or Part-Time | Seasonal (Opportunity for Year-Round Employment)


We are hiring a Seasonal Garden Center Associate to join our team at Damariscotta Hardware. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, helping customers, and staying active throughout the day.

This is a seasonal position, with the potential for continued, year-round employment as a regular team member for the right candidate.

As a Garden Center Associate, you will assist customers, care for plants, stock merchandise, and support daily store operations. This position includes cashiering responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service in the garden center and store
  • Assist customers with selecting plants and garden supplies
  • Load bagged goods (garden soils, soil amendments, etc.) into customer vehicles
  • Water, maintain, and care for plant inventory
  • Unload plant shipments and restock merchandise
  • Keep garden center clean, organized, and well merchandised
  • Operate cash register and handle transactions accurately
  • Answer phones and respond to customer inquiries
  • Stay up to date on promotions and store products
  • Support other store departments as needed

Qualifications

  • Customer service or retail experience preferred (not required)
  • Interest in gardening, plants, or outdoor work a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Reliable, motivated, and willing to learn

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Capable of bending, reaching, and climbing ladders as needed

Schedule

  • Full-time or part-time hours available
  • Flexible schedule required
  • Must be available for weekends

Compensation: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
