Job Description

Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park - Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop. Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.

  • Greet and assist visitors, answer questions and explain regulations.
  • Answer phones, handle reservations and respond to guest inquiries.
  • Manage reservation processes with care, precision and finesse.
  • Retain a report of occupied or vacant rooms and RV campsites. Distribute maps, park rules and local information.
  • Assist guests in locating hotel rooms, and full hook up RV sites.
  • Be familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by guests such as eateries, sundries, refreshments, churches, tourist attractions and local events.
  • Perform basic duties in common areas to maintain an attractive and clean environment.
  • Be observant for activities requiring immediate attention, notify the Lodging Manager as problems arise.

Work:

  • Due to the in-person nature of the hospitality business, this position is on-site. Housing will be provided on-site.
  • A flexible schedule with commuting from Lone Pine, Pahrump or Beatty will be considered.
  • Due to the nature of our business, Stovepipe Wells Village is open 24/7 year-round. You must be prepared to work a schedule which may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

  • Understand and follow all ESQ procedures that relate to your job duties.
  • Work with a “safety-first” attitude.
  • Minimize your impact on the environment when at work and living onsite.
  • Treat our customers, co-workers, leadership teams, all internal guests with respect and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
  • All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available in the Employee Handbook).
  • Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Able to work and thrive in Death Valley National Park.
  • Technical skills for entries of reservations and quality performance.
  • Establish successful working relationships with co-workers, Park Service and the public.
  • Ability to get along well with people, be honest, punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to remain calm and friendly.
  • Ability to physically be out to make rounds throughout the resort.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Minimum 2-years of work experience in a hospitality service position.
  • High school diploma required.

Compensation:

$18.00 - $19.00 per hour. On-site housing and EDR included.
