Job Description

Environmental Resources Management Limited (ERM) is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Seasonal Ecologists to support a variety of ecological field surveys and assessments during peak season. This role offers hands-on experience in environmental consulting and contributes to significant conservation and development projects.


Job Responsibilities:

* Conduct a range of ecological field surveys, including but not limited to, protected species surveys (e.g., bats, great crested newts, badgers, birds), habitat surveys (e.g., UKHAB, NVC), and botanical surveys.
* Assist with data collection, entry, and initial analysis using appropriate software and methodologies.
* Operate and maintain field equipment safely and effectively.
* Prepare clear and concise field notes, survey forms, and preliminary reports.
* Adhere to health and safety protocols and best practice guidelines during all field activities.
* Collaborate effectively with project managers, senior ecologists, and other team members.
* Travel to various project sites, often in remote or rural locations, and work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, as dictated by survey requirements.
* Contribute to the overall success of ecological projects by ensuring timely and accurate data acquisition.


Job Qualifications:

* A degree (or working towards one) in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related discipline.
* Demonstrable experience with ecological field survey techniques and species identification, particularly for UK flora and fauna.
* Strong understanding of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for business travel.
* Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging outdoor conditions.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
* Any protected species survey licenses (e.g., GCN, Bat Level 1) are highly desirable.
* Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) is an advantage.
