REQ13863 Seamstress / Seamer (Open)

Seamstress/Seamer is responsible for the repair and alteration of uniforms to ensure a high standard of dress presentation, to oversee the fit and measure of staff uniform fittings, and to liaise with Wardrobe team members regarding examinations of manufactured uniforms to ensure quality construction and fabric suitability.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilise specialised skills maintaining a high standard of production and continuity
• Inspect uniform items to determine mending, altering or replacement requirements
• Fit and measure of new and existing staff uniform fittings
• Maintain computer system, recording alterations, damaged stock, uniform construction
• Recycle damaged uniform items to assist Wardrobe supplies eg. Logos, buttons, zips, re-usable fabric
• Liaise with Supervisors in regards to all necessary information relevant to the operations of the seamstress area to ensure an efficient service department
• Maintain a professional working relationship within the Wardrobe Department and to all fellow employees
• Support the future development of the department adapting new concepts and work practices to improve the standard of service and professionalism within the Wardrobe Department
• Perform related duties as requested by Supervisors, Wardrobe
• Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
• Report accidents, injuries, unsafe work conditions and / or security issues to supervisors
• Perform other reasonable job duties as assigned by supervisors from time to time

Experience

• Previous experience in Seamstress/Tailor position
• Garment design and construction
• Pattern Drafting
• Cutting
• Trade equipment operations

Education

• Secondary school certificate or equivalent professional training

Skills / Competencies

• Ability to read and communicate in Cantonese / Mandarin / English
• Ability to work on flexible shift including overnight, weekends and holiday on rotation basis
• Ability to work on overtime when needed
• Displays a high commitment to improving customer service
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Good organisational ability and administrative skills including the ability to file in both numerical and alphabetical order
• Basic computer skills
• Adopts and implements new approaches and practices to meet changing circumstances
• Achieves agreed objectives and accepts accountability for results
• High standard of presentation and grooming
