The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral and psychiatric support needs.

We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual as a Seamstress This role plays a vital part in enhancing the quality of life and well-being of participants through purposeful and inclusive services.

Examples of duties

One year experience as an institutional or commercial seamstress; OR

Twelve semester hours in a sewing or closely related course.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:

  • Performs general sewing, altering, and mending of garments either by machine or by hand. This includes taking the necessary measurements for the items to be altered.
  • The garments that are made by the Sewing Room include aprons, clothes protectors, and medical bags. Cloth bags needed for storage on the back of the wheelchairs, and other miscellaneous items. This ensures the people living at PSSC have clothing made of the right size, providing protection and safety when required.
  • Sews curtains and privacy screens for the homes and offices located at PSSC. This involves going to the homes and offices to take measurements, following sewing patterns, and sometimes developing new patterns.
  • Submits all requisitions for supplies and materials needed to the Administrative Program Manager 2.
  • Contacts repairman when machines need to be repaired.
  • Ensures all orders are logged in the book and signed for when orders are completed.
  • Operates sewing machines, cutters, and other equipment required in the operation of the Sewing Room.

Location Pinecrest Supports and Services Center – Sewing Room

Shift 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Pass Days: Saturday / Sunday

Appointment Type This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer, Detail to Special Duty or Job Appointment. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

Compensation: Seamstress: $ 10.70 hourly - $19.26 Hourly
