The role

The Sea Freight Supervisor will lead the daily operations of the export/import sea freight department in the Philippines This role combines hands-on operational management with strategic oversight, ensuring service excellence, compliance with regulations, and achievement of business and financial objectives.

The Sea Freight Supervisor will coach and develop the export/import team, liaise with key partners, and support the Head of Operations in delivering the company’s strategic goals.

Your Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise and lead the export/import department, ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members to maximize performance and job satisfaction.
  • Establish departmental processes, KPIs, and standard operating procedures aligned with corporate standards.
  • Maintain strong relationships with overseas agents, shipping lines, customers, and other logistics partners.
  • Promote a culture of service excellence, integrity, and operational reliability.

2. Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day-to-day export/import operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with policies and local regulations.
  • Ensure zero operational loss accounts through effective monitoring and proactive problem-solving.
  • Maintain quality standards for operational export procedures and continuously drive process improvements.
  • Support the sales team with quotations, RFQs, rate negotiations, and customer liaison activities.

3. Financial & Administrative Management

  • Assist in achieving departmental budgets, sales targets, and profitability goals.
  • Ensure proper job-costing, billing, and gross profit reporting in line with company policies.
  • Handle supplier and customer queries related to accounts, collections, and deliveries.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to maintain accurate records and timely reporting.

4. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with internal codes of ethics, delegation of authority, and audit requirements.
  • Adhere to Philippine Bureau of Customs rules, export controls, sanctions, and data protection regulations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.

5. Strategic & Business Support

  • Support the Head of Operations in aligning departmental activities with national and corporate strategies.
  • Contribute to operational planning, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Provide insights for continuous business process improvements and service excellence.

What we're looking for:

Education & Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (4-year), preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fields

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in freight forwarding and logistics, with strong knowledge of SEA export/import operations
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Hands-on experience with operational systems (familiarity with CargoWise - CCLP Certified Logistics Provider by WiseTech preferred).
  • Well-connected with shipping lines and familiar with the Philippines maritime logistics industry.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
