This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SDE IV - QA based in India.

This is a senior engineering role focused on building and leading end-to-end quality strategy for highly scalable, cloud-native distributed systems. You will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of microservices-based architectures deployed across AWS environments. The role goes beyond traditional QA, combining hands-on automation engineering with architectural influence and technical leadership.
You will design and own test strategies across UI, API, and event-driven systems, ensuring robust coverage across complex asynchronous workflows.
A key aspect of the role is embedding quality early in the development lifecycle by partnering closely with engineering, product, and DevOps teams.
You will also act as a technical mentor, elevating QA practices and driving adoption of modern automation and AI-assisted engineering approaches.

• Define and own the end-to-end test automation strategy across web, API, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Design testing approaches for distributed architectures, including asynchronous flows, messaging systems, and eventual consistency scenarios.
• Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI (Playwright/Selenium) and API testing using Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Develop and execute API, integration, and contract tests for microservices-based systems.
• Implement performance, load, and resilience testing strategies using industry-standard tools.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast feedback and continuous delivery.
• Improve test reliability by reducing flakiness, optimizing execution time, and enhancing observability.
• Define and track quality metrics such as coverage, defect escape rate, and pipeline stability.
• Collaborate with developers to review code, improve testability, and ensure quality is embedded early.
• Mentor QA engineers and influence best practices in automation, architecture, and quality engineering.
• Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and AI-assisted workflows to improve productivity and coverage.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in Java (Spring Boot ecosystem) and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Selenium for UI test automation.
• Proven experience testing microservices and distributed systems, including event-driven architectures (SNS/SQS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ).
• Experience with AWS cloud-native environments (ECS, EKS, Lambda) and containerized systems (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of API testing (REST, JSON) and tools such as REST-assured or Postman.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) and quality gates.
• Knowledge of performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6, Gatling, Locust).
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux systems and scripting.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and ownership of quality outcomes.
• Experience using AI/LLM tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) to enhance engineering productivity.
• Ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical decision-making in fast-paced environments.
• Nice to have: contract testing (Pact, Spring Cloud Contract), observability tools (Datadog, Grafana), IaC (Terraform), or experience in identity/security domains.
