About the SDCPC: The San Diego County Promotores Coalition (SDCPC), fiscally sponsored by Mission Edge San Diego, envisions thriving, dynamic communities where all individuals have the knowledge, resources, opportunities, and decision-making power they need to flourish. Its mission is to strengthen the capacity of CHWs/Promotores and their partner organizations; driving equitable access for San Diego County residents through education, strategic partnerships, and advocacy.

Beginning as the Promotores Education Committee (PEC) in 2009, SDCPC is composed of employers, researchers, governmental agencies, educators, community-based organizations and Community Health Workers/Promotores (CHW/Ps). SDCPC has since grown to host bi-monthly county-wide coalition meetings open to all CHW/Ps, CHW/P employers and partner organizations as well as quarterly CHW/P Regional Network Meetings throughout the County. The Coalition is governed by a Steering Committee made up of Coalition Committee and Regional Network Leaders. The Coalition also coordinates the annual Adelante Promotores Conference, attended by more than 250 people annually, and other activities and efforts centered around the work of CHW/Ps. These events provide opportunities for professional development and increase capacity in identifying and responding to emerging health needs amongst diverse communities throughout San Diego County.

SDCPC Director’s Position Description:

  • Oversee the overall administration and management of the coalition
  • Develop and execute the coalition’s fundraising efforts to achieve its programmatic goals
  • Represent SDCPC in the exploration, development and implementation of external partnerships, by attending meetings, creating communications and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish and manage an annual budget
  • Write and submit reports as necessary for funders and Coalition membership
  • Actively engage coalition members and Steering Committee
  • Develop and implement of strategic direction based on the vision of Coalition members
  • Create and execute a coalition work plan; providing annual updates
  • Develop and expand a social media presence for the Coalition in partnership with the Communications Committee
  • Monitor CHW/P legislation, advocacy, policy, and initiatives locally and statewide as they inform strategic opportunities for the Coalition and its members

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Lead fundraising efforts on behalf of the coalition in the form of relationship development; contract, grant, and proposal development and submission; and sponsor solicitation
  • Provide on-going budget oversight and management; working closely with the Coalition Treasurer to review and reconcile monthly financial statements with the Coalition’s fiscal sponsor
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Coalition with its fiscal sponsor

Coalition Development:

  • Formalize partnership agreements
  • In partnership with SDCPC Co-Chairs, build, maintain and increase relationships and engagement with other organizations
  • Represent SDCPC at local and statewide meetings and keep the coalition Steering Committee and members informed of meeting outcomes
  • Enhance the development of SDCPC by attending multiple forums as needed (i.e. conferences, trainings)
  • Strengthen membership capacity

Organization Operations:

  • Responsible for overseeing and administering contracts and sub-contracts
  • Work in partnership with the Treasurer to liaison with the Coalition’s fiscal sponsor
  • Responsible for oversight of additional consultants as warranted
  • Operate as the primary point of contact for the Coalition’s fiscal sponsor
  • Responsible for hiring and oversight of additional consultants as warranted
  • Other duties as assigned

Community Relations:

  • Work in collaboration with local and statewide stakeholders to align initiatives, projects, and potential funding
  • Network with elected officials to advocate for the CHW/P roles
  • Elevate the SDCPC presence as leads and experts in the CHW/P fieldwork

Qualifications:

  • Experience with and/or strong knowledge of the CHW/P model and sector
  • Strong knowledge of the San Diego County Promotores Coalition
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • 2+ years of strategic planning experience, including analytical, strategic and tactical expertise
  • Experience in Google Suite, Mailchimp, Canva, Wordpress or similar software
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in fundraising, including donor cultivation and stewardship; grant and contract solicitation for funding sources >$50,000
  • Highly independent with capacity to seek out and engage external resources as necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have sound judgment and integrity
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple, simultaneous priorities

Preferred:

  • BA/BS degree in public health, communications or related field. (w/ Public Health background)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Data collection and evaluation
  • Public speaking experience

Role Details:

  • Compensation Range: $50-$75 per hour based on experience
  • Status: Regular, Part-Time employee (not benefit eligible)
  • Hours: 20-29 hours per week with varying schedule
  • Supervised by: SDCPC Steering Committ
