About the SDCPC: The San Diego County Promotores Coalition (SDCPC), fiscally sponsored by Mission Edge San Diego, envisions thriving, dynamic communities where all individuals have the knowledge, resources, opportunities, and decision-making power they need to flourish. Its mission is to strengthen the capacity of CHWs/Promotores and their partner organizations; driving equitable access for San Diego County residents through education, strategic partnerships, and advocacy.
Beginning as the Promotores Education Committee (PEC) in 2009, SDCPC is composed of employers, researchers, governmental agencies, educators, community-based organizations and Community Health Workers/Promotores (CHW/Ps). SDCPC has since grown to host bi-monthly county-wide coalition meetings open to all CHW/Ps, CHW/P employers and partner organizations as well as quarterly CHW/P Regional Network Meetings throughout the County. The Coalition is governed by a Steering Committee made up of Coalition Committee and Regional Network Leaders. The Coalition also coordinates the annual Adelante Promotores Conference, attended by more than 250 people annually, and other activities and efforts centered around the work of CHW/Ps. These events provide opportunities for professional development and increase capacity in identifying and responding to emerging health needs amongst diverse communities throughout San Diego County.
