Scrum Master - Technology Services


He angitūtanga: The Opportunity
Auckland Council is on an exciting and ongoing transformation journey and is home to one of the largest ICT capabilities in Aotearoa. We now have a permanent opportunity for a passionate and experienced Scrum Master to join Technology Services to help build outcomes for Tāmaki Makaurau.As a Scrum Master, you’ll work closely with cross-functional delivery teams to foster high performance, remove impediments, and embed Agile practices. You’ll champion team events, facilitate collaboration, and support teams to continuously improve how they deliver value. Working within the wider Scrum Master Practice, you’ll help uplift agile maturity and shape how we work at scale across the organisation.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You’re a confident Agile delivery professional with at least 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master. You’ve worked in fast-paced, complex environments—ideally with technical teams—and know how to support iterative delivery while keeping people at the centre.You’re also a skilled facilitator, problem-solver, and coach who can support individuals, teams, and leaders through change. A relevant Agile qualification (e.g. SAFe Scrum Master) is strongly preferred.

To succeed in the role, you’ll bring:
-Pragmatism and a growth mindset
-A strong understanding and practical application of Agile methodologies
-Excellent facilitation and communication skills
-A background working with technical delivery teams
-A desire to collaborate with fellow Scrum Masters as part of our Scrum Master Practice
-A passion for continuous improvement and uplifting team capability
You’ll also work closely with Product Owners to prioritise work, maximise value, and guide teams through backlog refinement, estimation, story splitting, and retrospectives.
