and Responsibilities

Managing the flow of both incoming and outgoing traffic to maintain a safe and organized environment, while ensuring that all customers are equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) during their time in the yard. Conducting thorough inspections of all loads and materials to ensure compliance with company guidelines, and facilitating safe interactions between customers and company equipment to prevent any incidents and promote a secure working atmosphere.

  • Maintain constant and clear communication with the office and operators controlling traffic in and out of the unloading area

  • Ensure safe interaction with customers and company heavy equipment by maintaining a safe distance and directing customers to the appropriate unloading areas

  • Check every load and report findings promptly to the office, and record noncompliance on the inspection form

  • Ensure cleanliness around the shredder unloading area

  • Call fair and consistent deductions

  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned

Requirements

  • High School grade 12 or equivalent

  • No experience necessary, but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrapyard/auto part environment will be considered an asset

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day

  • Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions, including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions

  • Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odours, fumes, and noise

  • Customer focus: Take responsibility for developing excellent customer service, making sure that all customer interactions are handled professionally and expeditiously

  • Communicate clearly and listen carefully in an open, candid, and consistent manner

  • Team Player: Establish trust with team members, stating clear expectations, and recognizes group morale and acts to protect and/or build as required

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as the work site is not accessible by city transit
