
[What the role is]
The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.
[What you will be working on]
You will join the Veterinary Parasitology and Pathology (VPP) branch within the Centre for Animal and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS) Division, as part of the Molecular Diagnostics team at the Centre for Wildlife Forensics (CWF). As a member of this multi-disciplinary team, you will be tasked with delivering professional and skilled diagnostic and test development support. Your efforts will contribute to NParks' mission of fostering the best living environment through exceptional nature conservation, greenery, recreation, and veterinary care, in collaboration with the community.
Duties include but not limited to:
Establish, validate and conduct molecular test and bioinformatic analysis for the identification of targeted domestic and wildlife animal species.
Establish and validate genotyping test(s)for targeted animal species.
Participate in the maintenance of a laboratory quality system according to ISO17025:2017.
Carrying administrative process required to ensure daily function of the laboratory.
[What we are looking for]
Areas of study in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Life Science, or related fields.
At least one year of hands-on experience in a medical or research laboratory preferred.
Candidates with relevant job experience and sound knowledge in molecular biology will have an advantage.
Highly motivated individual with passion for laboratory work.
Team player with initiative, drive and good interpersonal/communication skills and able to work independently.
Proficient in Bioinformatics software and tools e.g. Geneious Prime, MEGA, BLAST, etc.
