Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Design and execute laboratory experiments, perform materials and surface characterization, and analyze experimental data to establish process-structure-property relationships in glass surface engineering and finishing technologies.
  • Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical methods to improve experimental efficiency and data quality.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and communicate technical findings through reports and presentations while protecting Corning's intellectual property and confidential information.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians to identify technology opportunities, develop technical concepts, and contribute to project initiation and execution.
  • Maintain safe laboratory practices and comply with EHS requirements.

Education & Experience

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of research or industrial experience, including hands-on experience in chemical laboratory experimentation and materials characterization.

Required Skills

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of chemistry, materials science, surface engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience in chemical laboratory operations, experimental execution, and data analysis.
  • Experience with materials and surface characterization techniques and the ability to interpret characterization results.
  • Strong technical documentation and data interpretation skills, with the ability to communicate technology effectively in English.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of optical simulation, modeling, and related analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, automation, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary research environments.
