Join our Molecular Biology Cloning and Tools R&D team and contribute to the development of innovative reagents, methods, and workflows that support molecular biology research worldwide.

As a Scientist in the Molecular Biology Cloning and Tools R&D team, you will support the development, improvement, and troubleshooting of reagents and methods for DNA cloning, DNA assembly, and synthetic biology workflows. This role is well suited for an early-career scientist with strong hands-on molecular biology skills, curiosity, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.

You will perform laboratory experiments, analyze results, document findings, and contribute to product development activities under the guidance of senior scientists and project leads. You will work closely with local and global R&D colleagues and collaborate with cross-functional partners including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Project Management.

What Will You Do?

  • Perform laboratory bench work focused on development, optimization, testing, and troubleshooting of reagents and methods for DNA cloning and DNA assembly applications.
  • Support product development projects by executing planned experiments, collecting data, analyzing results, and preparing experimental summaries.
  • Work with DNA/RNA modifying enzymes, cloning reagents, PCR-based workflows, nucleic acid quantification methods, and other molecular biology tools.
  • Follow, draft, revise, and review protocols, SOPs, equipment maintenance records, test records, and other technical documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks in accordance with internal documentation and quality requirements.
  • Compile and present experimental results, conclusions, and recommendations to the project team.
  • Assist with maintaining laboratory reagents, equipment, supplies, and a safe, organized working environment.
  • Conduct literature searches and follow trends in molecular cloning, DNA assembly, and synthetic biology to support innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with R&D colleagues and cross-functional teams to support department and project objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree with approximately 2 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an advantage.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques, such as DNA/RNA handling, PCR, gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid purification, nucleic acid quantification, and DNA cloning or assembly.
  • Basic understanding of experimental design, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to accurately follow protocols and generate reliable, reproducible experimental data.
  • Strong documentation skills, including detailed laboratory notebooks, technical records, and experimental summaries.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present results clearly to the team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to laboratory safety, quality, and good documentation practices.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with DNA assembly technologies, restriction enzyme cloning, Gibson assembly, Golden Gate cloning, or similar molecular cloning workflows.
  • Experience working with DNA/RNA modifying enzymes.
  • Familiarity with product development, quality testing, or manufacturing support in a life sciences environment.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis or data visualization tools.

Compensation

The monthly salary range estimated for this position based in Lithuania is €2 183,33–€3 270,83.
