The Scientist in Oncology is a highly skilled and motivated individual who will be part of an integrated research team within the Discovery & Translational Biology Group. The Scientist will have profound research experience in molecular and cell biology with a profound background in immuno-oncology applied in the context of drug discovery and biological characterization of novel therapeutics and drug targets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform the full spectrum of laboratory activities and develop, troubleshoot, and optimize cell-based and biochemical assays in support of target validation, drug discovery & development efforts.
  • Independently identify, develop, and implement methods for the characterization of novel drug targets and their biology in Oncology and Immuno-oncology.
  • Independently develop proposals and implement assays for assessment of potency, target engagement, and mechanism of action of novel compounds using multiple techniques (e.g., recombinant DNA techniques, RNA purification, Western, PCR, RT-qPCR, protein extraction/purification, IP, flow cytometry, plate-based endpoints).
  • Maintain laboratory records and notebooks, organize and compile data, and write and present comprehensive reports on results.
  • Facilitate interactions with internal groups and external partners/CROs relevant to experimental projects.
  • Handle laboratory workflows and participate in project/timeline management.
  • Mentor and assist junior team members.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a Ph.D. degree in cancer biology, cell biology, biochemistry with a strong background in immunology with 0-3 years of relevant post PhD experience.
  • Proven hands-on experience with a variety of cell-based and molecular biology readout technologies, such as flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, PCR, RT-qPCR, protein extraction/purification, IP, Western, and plate-based endpoints.
  • Profound knowledge of immune-oncology in vitro modeling, e.g., T cell activation/proliferation/phenotyping, myeloid cell assays, tumor killing assays.
  • Knowledge of in vivo immuno-oncology models, experience conducting studies with a CRO.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a proven ability to prepare manuscripts for presentation and publication is required.
  • Excellent data organization and strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving aptitudes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team player with a strong work ethic, excellent communication, and time management skills.
