Be part of change

  • Scientific management research field ‘Optical Signal Processing’
  • Management, coordination and processing of projects in research field
  • Development of the research field with a focus on commercialization of research results with industrial partners
  • Acquisition of industrial projects and publicly funded projects
  • Presentation of the research field and R&D results towards internal and external partners, preparation of project reports, journal articles and presentations at conferences
  • Supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses

What you contribute

  • Scientific university degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field, preferably with a completed doctorate (PhD)
  • Very good knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
    • Integrated photonics / PIC design
    • Optical communications and associated digital signal processing
    • Machine learning / neural network architectures
    • Numerical simulation of optical systems
  • Programming experience in a scientific environment, preferably with knowledge of Python, Photontorch, SAX, and VPIphotonics
  • Laboratory experience, preferably with optical measurement systems and communication systems
  • Excellent command of English; good knowledge of German is preferred
  • Team spirit, a structured way of working, and the ability to independently develop ideas for new research activities
  • Experience in managing scientific projects and supervising Bachelor’s and Master’s theses
  • Experience in applying for publicly funded projects (EU, BMFTR)
  • Experience in industrial acquisition
  • Scientific experience abroad

The scientific work offers the possibility of a doctorate.

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
