Job Description

Role Purpose

  • Primary function is to support portfolio projects by developing and executing material characterization, process optimization, or/and new product application. The individual must have a solid technical background in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or Ceramics. Additionally, the individual is expected to have hands-on experiences in lab. In this role, the person will develop techniques and conduct experiments to address process issues if needed.
  • The individual will have the opportunity to be a member of cross-functional project sub-teams, on both early and late innovation stage projects, through concept generation / certification, technology development, detail design / build, and the installation into manufacturing. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with internal cross-functional teams that are involved in the innovation process of new concepts and products.
  • Work with other project team members on understanding and solving project related issues.
  • Utilize internal/external lab facilities and equipment to develop proof of concept prototypes.
  • Execute project assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Work in a team-based environment and participate on a highly matrixed project team. 
  • Investigate prior art and document any Intellectual Property developed as part of their project activities.
  • Document project learning, progress, and results in technical reports.
  • Present the project(s) they are involved with for review by peers and managers.
  • Characterize surfaces, morphologies, structures, and compositions of various samples using standard technologies.
  • Manage chemicals and safety manners. 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Technical matter expert in one of the areas of Thin-film chemistry, Ceramics, Dynamics, and Mechanical mechanics.
  • Depth of knowledge of characterization of materials by various analytical imaging techniques such as SEM, TEM, FIB, Microprobe and Optical Microscopy.
  • Ability to demonstrate communication and collaboration skills by achieving designate results through a highly matrixed project team.
  • Ability to effectively leverage internal and external resources to achieve deliverables.
