Job Description

Serán seeks a Scientist II to join the Analytical Sciences group to play a key role in the analytical characterization and method development of novel pharmaceutical drug products as an integral part of collaborative project teams. This role performs hands‑on testing, develops analytical protocols from qualified/validated methods, and partners with cross‑functional teams to integrate analytical data into development programs.  Qualified candidates will demonstrate experience performing good laboratory practices with instruments including HPLC, sink dissolution, Karl Fischer, XRD, and DSC.  Preference will be given to those with experience relevant to drug development, but those with education and experience that supports the essential function of the role are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executes a range of analytical techniques including HPLC, dissolution, Karl Fischer, XRD, DSC
  • Develops analytical protocols, data templates, and experimental plans based on test methods with minimal guidance
  • Interprets analytical data, identifies trends, proposes hypotheses, and recommends next steps
  • Summarizes, reports, and analyzes data to draw sound scientific conclusions
  • Maintains and troubleshoots instruments
  • Prepares and reviews technical reports, data packages, and presentations, with guidance
  • Works cross‑functionally to incorporate analytical findings into development projects
  • Communicates technical information to internal teams
  • Communicates technical information to external partners, with guidance
  • Serves as analytical lead for project teams with guidance
  • Ensures all work complies with laboratory best practices, safety standards, and development SOPs
  • Responsibilities may increase in scope to align with company initiatives
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with HPLC and basic laboratory skills

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline with at least 1 year of relevant experience; or
  • M.S. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Motor skills required for basic laboratory operations (pouring liquids, using utensils to transfer powders, visual assessments)
  • Adheres to consistent and predictable in-person attendance
